Holiday skating: It’s the next best thing to real ice skating. Check out Let’s Skate, Ocala, the synthetic ice rink downtown, just north of Citizens’ Circle beneath a canopy of holiday lights. Cost is $5 for 30 minutes of skating. Skates included. Hours are 3 – 9 p.m. Monday -Friday and 12- 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Ride in a horse-drawn carriage: Create an awesome holiday memory when you come downtown for dinner and then take a carriage ride beneath the Christmas lights in Downtown Ocala. Horse Country Carriage Company offers evening carriage rides in Downtown Ocala through Dec. 31. Hours are 6-9 p.m, offering private carriage rides and group trolley rides. Movies at the Marion: There’s no other theater like the historic Marion Theatre in Downtown Ocala. This weekend see “The Wolf of Wall Street” with Leonardo DiCaptrio, or “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” Bring the family downtown for a movie and experience a little holiday magic as you walk beneath the lights.
Scavenger Hunt at Tuscawilla: You and your family will love the Outdoor Sculpture and Scavenger Hunt at Tuscawilla Park. Download your scavenger hunt brochure or pick up a copy at the Discovery Center, 701 NE Sanchez Ave. Show your completed hunt and gain free admission for your family to the Appleton Museum of Art. How cool is that?

Ocala Farm Market: Still looking for a great gift for yourself or someone else? Check out the great vendors that are a part of the Ocala Farm Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, across the street from the Downtown Square. Look for the giant Christmas tree. That’s where you’ll f ind jewelry, fashions, food gifts, fresh produce and so much more. It’s a great place to start your Saturday.
Music and a party: Head to Pi on Broadway for music beneath the stars at 9 p.m. Saturday. Glass Onion will be playing on the rooftop terrace, the only one of its kind in Ocala. Looking for a great way to ring in the New Year? Pi has you covered there too with a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Party beginning at 9 p.m. Tuesday. Enjoy live music with Wester Joseph & Stereo Vudu and free champagne at midnight.
