It’s been one fun weekend after another this month in Downtown Ocala and this final weekend in March closes things out with a big bang.
Where else to find the band Sister Hazel performing as part of the Feel Downtown Live concert series, or a new burlesque review at the Marion Theatre titled Marion at Midnight. Perhaps a Ghost Walk in the evening, the Ocala Farm Market on Saturday morning, a scavenger hunt at Tuscawilla Park and a whole lot more. Sister Hazel: You’ve heard their music or seen them perform in Gainesville. Now see the popular rock band Sister Hazel perform at Citizens’ Circle in Downtown Ocala as part of the Feel Downtown Live Concert series. General admission is $10. VIP tickets are all sold out. Gates open at 6 p.m. Ocala’s own Blue Jays Band plays at 7:15 and Sister Hazel takes to the stage at 8. You can buy advance tickets here.
Marion at Midnight: This all female vaudeville show will feature burlesque, fire performing, circus acrobatics and comedy at the historic Marion Theatre. Doors open at 11 p.m. with live music and the show starts at midnight. The audience is encouraged to dress up with Pin Up costume contest for the ladies and a Dapper Dan contest for men, with prizes from local businesses. Movies at the Marion: Continuing at the historic Marion Theatre this weekend is the current No. 1 movie in the nation, “Divergent,” the thrilling action-adventure film set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Also playing is the animated “Mr. Peabody and Sherman.” All shows before 6 p.m. are just $6. Evening shows are $8. Go here for showtimes.
Ghost Walks: Bet you didn’t know that there are ghost tours year round in Downtown Ocala. It’s true. Ocala Ghost Walks and Historical Tours offers several walking tours. Choose from one of three tours offered in Downtown Ocala, including a Haunted Pub Tour, which of course, includes one free drink with ticket purchase. Make reservations at 352-690-7933.
Ocala Farm Market: Get your Saturday started the Ocala Farm Market way. This great runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday, featuring more than 70 vendors. You can get everything from fresh produce, seafood and bread, to candles, soaps, fashions, flowering plants and so much more.
Scavenger Hunt: This is something the family can do together. It’s the Outdoor Sculpture and Scavenger Hunt at Tuscawilla Park. Download a scavenger hunt brochure or pick up a copy at the Discovery Center, 701 NE Sanchez Ave. Show your completed hunt and gain free admission for your family to the Appleton Museum of Art.
